Tai Chi - What is it?

Tai Chi or Taiji:

Also known as T'ai Chi Ch'uan or Taijiquan, it is a centuries old system of movements and postures for health improvements. Originally developed in China as a very effective martial art, today, most of the millions of people that practice Tai Chi do so for it's health benefits which include stress reductions, balance improvement, well being, and healing the body.

Exercise in general will boost the immune system and Tai Chi is fast becoming one of the more popular exercises in the western world. Its slow, soothing movements incorporate deep breathing, and relaxing postures that cleanse the mind and body each time you go through the gentle movements.

WDJ Productions founder and owner Wayne Jupiter, in wearing one of many hats, teaches Tai Chi in the Joliet area. He first learned Tai Chi from Dr. Greg Mucci in 1998. Dr. Mucci started Tai Chi when as a teenager he developed Menieres disease which left him deaf and with a severe balance problem. Through Tai Chi Dr. Mucci regained much of his balance and started teaching it. 

In 2000, Wayne attended a workshop in Tai Chi, Yiquan, and Qigong with Master Fong Ha from Berkeley, California. He became a student of Fong Ha and Tai Chi is now a lifelong process.
